UDUPI: An alleged moral policing incident was reported from Kapu wherein some activists of a Hindu outfit stopped a youth and girl belonging to different religions, who had gone to see the Sirimane Falls in Kaup.

The incident occurred on August 22 and a case has been registered at the Kaup police station in Udupi after a video of the incident went viral on social media.

Both the youth and the girl are residents of Kaup. In the video, the Hindu activists are heard trying to contact the police while the youth and the girl plead to be let off.

On the request of the two, talks were held between the two families in the presence of the police. The family of the girl did not file any complaint as they said that they have not seen any suspicious behaviour of the Muslim youth.

After the incident, the video surfaced on the Hindu Dharma 006 Facebook page recently. The photo and video have gone viral on Instagram and WhatsApp too.

A complaint has been filed against 10 people at Kaup police station for unlawful assembly, attempt to riot and other charges. Superintendent of Police Udupi  Arun Kumar  said that further action will be taken as per the law.
