TUMAKURU: About 30 monkeys, which had been caught by a farmer and kept caged, were released after the intervention of the Forest Department and the Bajrang Dal.
Farmer Kumar had caged the monkeys on his farm behind the Rajiv Gandhi stadium on Madhugiri claiming that they were destroying his coconut plantation. Kept caged, the moneys had sustained injuries as they fought among themselves.
On getting to know about this, some Bajrang Dal activists informed the Forest Department and together, they went to the farm land and released the monkeys in the Thimmalapura reserve forest.
