KARWAR: The Railway Police have seized Rs 2 crore in cash which was being illegally transported by train at Shirwada railway station in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday.
The hawala money was being transported by the Mangaluru Express from Mumbai to Mangaluru by Manohar Singh aka Chain Singh, a native of Rajasthan. The Railway Police intercepted him at the Shirwada railway station and seized the cash.
The cash was wrapped in a parcel cover and sealed. The accused Manohar Singh was later handed over to the Karwar Rural police for further investigation.
