BENGALURU: Rajarjeshwari Nagar BJP MLA Munirathna has lodged a complaint with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Lokayukta against illegalities in preparing bills of Rs 9.5 crore towards 42 construction works in his constituency.

Speaking at a press conference, he said that the investigations will bring out all the wrongdoings. “As a legislator, I have highlighted whatever has come to my notice. The government has initiated an investigation through an SIT. I have not done anything wrong and I have only brought to the fore what has come to my attention. I have complained to the ED and the Lokayukta”, he said.

The MLA further said development work has stopped in the entire constituency. “If necessary, let it be investigated and let the truth come out. About four months have passed and work on the flyover and schools have stopped. Contractors are facing problems and citizens are forced to put up with hardship. What will be achieved by stopping the ongoing work? There is no fund for fresh work in the government”, Munirathna said.

“The Deputy Chief Minister himself has said that they cannot take up fresh development work. If there is no money, the work of the previous government should not be stalled. My constituency is in Bengaluru Rural, voters respect me and have elected me again in this election; this is mother Rajarajeshwari’s decision”, the MLA said. “People in my constituency say that no one else would have looked after this constituency except for me, he added.

Muniratna claimed that, today, Bengaluru ranks first in the entire country for IT-BT. “But the revenue that should come to our state is going to Hyderabad. The government is not paying attention to such things”, he said.
