HASSAN: A 16-year-old girl died under mysterious circumstances at Konanur village in Arkalgud taluk on Wednesday after she went with her fiance to a village fair.
Two months ago, the girl was engaged to Dinesh from Kudlur village. On November 29, he took the girl to Subramanya Shashti Utsav in Ramanathapura. Around 4 pm, he informed the girl’s parents that she had consumed poison and that he had taken her to a private hospital in the city. Later, the parents got to know that she had died at the hospital without responding to treatment.
The girl’s parents filed a complaint over the suspicious death of their daughter. The Child Welfare Committee and District Child Protection Unit officials also registered a complaint after they received an call on the child helpline from an unidentified caller.
The girl’s body was found with injuries and a cut wound on the neck. A case has been registered at Konanur police station.
