TUMAKURU: A 20-year-old newly married woman allegedly committed suicide just four months after her marriage, at Jyothinagar in Sira town, due to suspicion about her husband’s relationship with another woman.

Prithvirani was married to Jaimaruthi Naik, a resident of Kilaradhahalli. They had gotten married at Dharmasthala after four years of being in a relationship and were living in a rented house at Jyothinagar in Sira.

However, Jaimaruthi’s alleged affair with another woman had led to frequent quarrels between the couple. The woman had reportedly been threatening Jaimaruthi, and Prithvirani had questioned him about it, leading to further disputes.

It is alleged that Jaimaruthi had even physically assaulted Prithvirani during one such argument. Prithvirani had attempted to take her own life three times before, and on the day of the incident, Jaimaruthi had called her family, stating that she was not responding.

When Prithvirani’s family members arrived at the house, they found her lying on the bed with a black mark on her neck and blood in her nose. Suspecting foul play, they filed a complaint with the Sira police.

The police have launched an investigation and have arrested Jaimaruthi, alleging that he had been harassing his wife. Preliminary investigation suggests that Prithvirani died by hanging herself.
