BENGALURU: With the Manjunatha Nagar flyover along West of Chord Road in Rajajinagar developing cracks and parts of appearing to be damaged, citizens have raised serious concerns about the quality of infrastructure projects under Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

The flyover construction work took five years and it was opened to the public only a few months ago. Local residents had earlier filed a complaint about the same with the BBMP and urged the officials not to allow traffic on the flyover.

Naveen, a local resident.

“Only the locals know that there are cracks on the flyover. People from other parts drive fast thinking it’s a new flyover. Several trees were cut down for constructing the flyover. Many cracks have developed on the bridge and vibrations can be felt when heavy vehicles travel on it”, pointed out Naveen, a local resident.

Kiran Kumar, a local resident.

“It is not even that the flyover is years old, but many cracks have already developed. Earlier, we had complained about it to the BBMP officials, but there was no response from them. This is unscientific work done by government officials. We have now planned to stand near the flyover and inform commuters not to use it”, said Kiran Kumar, a local resident.
