QR Code for heart emergencies.

“During World Heart Day, we introduced this QR code for social causes and emergency services in Bengaluru, which is known as an IT hub and for its medical infrastructure compared to other metro cities. This will make it easier for people to avail ambulance services. It will also teach them to perform emergency CPR in case of cardiac arrest.

“There are challenges like availing ambulance service. With the QR code, once we get the signal, we dispatch the ambulance immediately with a health care team. This will help patients arrive on time in case of emergencies. Especially in heart diseases, the time to initiation of treatment is important. At present, we have installed the QR codes at 15 locations. With a long-term vision, we will install more of the codes at prime locations across the city”, said Sunil Karanth, Chairman, HOD & Consultant – Critical Care Medicine.
