The DYFI has put up a huge cutout of Tipu Sultan ahead of its state convention.

MANGALURU: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has illegally put up huge cutouts of erstwhile Srirangapatna ruler Tipu Sultan in connection with its state-level convention to be held between February 25 and 27. The police have since issued a notice to the organisation to take down the cutouts.

The convention is being held at Thokkottu and the Tipu Sultan cutouts, along with banners and buntings, were put up at Harekala in Ullal taluk as part of the publicity campaign. But since permission had not been taken, the Konaje police have issued a notice to the Harakela DYFI committee president.

The DYFI members claimed that they had put up cutouts of leaders from all religions and had not taken permission individually. They also insisted that they will not remove the cutouts of Tipu Sultan.
