MADIKERI: The man who was suspected of murdering a young woman was found dead at the Rudraguppe lake near his house in Virajpet taluk on Wednesday.
The deceased has been identified as Thammaiah. He is accused of murdering Arati (24) with a sharp weapon in Nangala village on Sunday.
Earlier on Sunday, Thammaiah had harassed her by calling her several times. She had got a job with an IT company in Bengaluru and had moved to the city. He called her and asked her to come near a coffee plantation, where they had an argument before he brutally attacked her with a sharp weapon and fled. He left his helmet, phone and a poison bottle behind at the crime scene.
During investigation, the Virajpet police found bottles of poison and alcohol. They suspected that he might have committed suicide by jumping into the lake after consuming the alcohol mixed with poison.
