HASSAN: A man tried to slit his wife’s throat at the women’s police station here on Sunday when she had gone to lodge a complaint him over his alleged illicit affair and constant harassment. The woman is now recuperating in hospital while the police have arrested the husband.

The victim Shilpa and Harish got married six years ago and were living at Bittagodanahalli on the outskirts here. The couple have a four-year-old son and all was well with them for some time. However, later on, Harish allegedly got into an illicit relationship with another woman. When Shilpa got to know about his, she questioned her husband who started harassing her, police said.

From her hospital bed, Shilpa said, “My husband has been assaulting me for the last six years and he has an affair with another woman which I came to know of recently. I told my parents about it. When I went to lodge a complaint, he attacked me in front of the police. He should be punished.”

“They have been married for six years. Recently, she told us that he was beating and harassing her. She had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint as he was torturing her when he tried to slit her throat”, Sheela, the victim’s younger sister.

Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sujeetha said the husband Harish has been arrested.

Superintendent of Police Mohammed Sujeetha said, “Harish was summoned to the women’s police station based on Shilpa’s complaint. When they were being questioned, he tried to attack and kill her. Shilpa sustained injuries in the next and ear. The police personnel rescued her and admitted her to a hospital. The accused has been arrested and a case registered”.
