Man ties up leopard on back of motorcycle and carries it to vet, advised by Forest staff to release it

HASSAN: A man, who found a leopard on his farm land, tied up the animal, hung it on the back of his motorcycle and rode with it to hand it over to the Forest Department officials.

The captured leopard was later released.

Venugopal aka Muthu found the young leopard on his farm at Bagivalu village in Gandasi hobli of Arasikere taluk on Friday morning. After managing to capture the animal, he hung it on the back of his motorcycle to take it to the veterinary hospital at Gandasi for treatment. Following this, the Forest Department was informed.

Explaining the incident, Venugopal said, “I spotted the leopard and followed it. It climbed a coconut tree and suddenly jumped on me and I sustained injuries on my hands and legs. The leopard also tore my shoe. I caught it by the neck and called out to another person to bring a rope. Then I managed to tie the legs of the leopard, put it on my bike and too it to the hospital. But the forest officer advised me to leave the animal where I found it. So I brought it back and left it in the shade”.
