HASSAN: A man attempted to murder his estranged wife by slitting her throat at the 2nd JMFC court complex in Holenarsipur when she had come to attend a hearing on their divorce petition. The victim was immediately rushed to hospital in a serious condition.
Chaitra (32) and Shivakumar, both hailing from Tattekere, had been married for a few years now. Two years ago, Chaitra sought a divorce and maintenance and had approached court.
On Saturday, when she appeared in the court for hearing, Shivakumar slashed her throat with a knife with an intention to murder her. Chaitra was rushed to the government hospital in Holenarsipur, where she died. People gathered at the court complex nabbed Shivakumar and handed him over to the police. The local police have registered a case.
