BALLARI: A man returned gold and silver ornaments worth lakhs which he had found left behind in a bag by a bus passenger at Hosapete in Vijayanagar district. The police have since returned it to the original owner.

Mudukappa Shegadi of Hoovina Hadagali had boarded a bus to Hosapete to visit his son. While getting off at Hosapete checkpost, he left behind a bag containing 45 gm gold chain, a pair of ear studs weighing 5 gm, three finger rings weighing 10 gm and 80 gm of silver articles.

Raghavendra, a resident of Malapanagudi, was travelling by the same bus to fetch some courier packets. An unidentified person handed the bag left behind by Mudukapa Shegadi to Raghavendra and alighted the bus. Raghavendra waited at the bus stop for about half an hour, expecting the owner to return and claim the bag.

When no one came, Raghavendra opened the bag to find the gold and silver ornaments. He then straightaway went to the Hosapete town police station and handed over the valuables. The police ensured that Mudukappa Shegadi got back his valuables and also felicitated Raghavendra for his honesty.
