Man rapes physically challenged minor girl, booked under POCSO Act

MANDYA: In an alleged love jihad case, a 24-year-old married man has been accused of raping a 13-year-old physically challenged girl at Nagamangala in the district on November 11 after convincing her that he would marry her only if she converted to Islam.

A case under the POCSO Act has been registered against Younus Pasha at the Nagamangala Town police station after a complaint was received on Saturday. The Nagamangala police have since arrested the accused.

Younus Pasha is a neighbour of the minor girl and they knew each other. The incident has come to lime light 10 days of the incident after a complaint was filed.

The incident comes close on the heels of the rape and murder of a schoolgirl by a he tuition teacher in Malavalli.

On November 12, the girl’s parents got suspicious about her behavior after they were returned from a trip to Shirdi. Upon questioning, the girl revealed everything that had happened. She was with her grandmother at home while her parents were away.

As per the complaint, Younus became friends with the minor girl without knowledge of her parents and started chatting and making video calls. He had even recorded some naked photos and videos of the girl and had threatened the girl of uploading those pictures on social media.

He told the girl to mix sleeping tablets with sambar and to give it to her grandmother. He also handed over some sleeping pills to the girl. Later, he raped her in the house that night.

Briefing the media, Mandya Superintendent of Police Yatish said, “The girl’s parent went to Shirdi on November 8 and returned on November 12. On November 11, Younus raped the girl. He had gifted an Android phone to the her and developed friendship. On November 11, he forced the girl to give a sleeping tablet to her grandmother. Younus himself gave her the sleeping pills. Further investigation is on”.
