CHIKKAMAGALUR: A 35-year-old man died after he sustained a bullet injury when he had gone out to hunt wild boars with two of his friends at Uluvagilu village on Thursday night. As the death seemed suspicious, the police have detained the two friends and are questioning them.

Sanjay, a resident of Keramakki village, set out hunting along with his friends Nisarga and Suman of the same village. Sanjay was struck by a bullet in the chest as a gun allegedly misfired. Curiously, the gun was found near the fence of a farm close to where Sanjay had fallen dead.

It is said that Nisarga attempted to flee from the spot but fell and broke his arm. The police have admitted him to the district hospital. Questions are now being raised if it was an accidental death or intentional murder.

Also, licenced arms are to be deposited at the nearest police station during elections. How the trio managed to keep their guns with themselves has raised more questions. Hunting of wild animals is banned across the country, but the trio had still ventured out to kill wild boars. The Mallandur police have registered a case and are investigating.
