BENGALURU: A shocking murder case has rocked the Anekal taluk in Bengaluru, where a man was brutally killed by his lover’s brother in Bilvarahalli village.
Srinivas and Ranjit were brothers-in-law, as Srinivas’s sister Pavithra was married to Ranjit. Srinivas’s younger sister Komala had been married to someone else, but she had caught Ranjit’s eye at her older sister’s wedding. They started chatting, and their conversations led to a romantic affair.
Komala, who was already married with children, began to neglect her family and spend more time with Ranjit. They eventually ran away together last week, but Srinivas had warned Ranjit to stay away from his sister, citing family concerns.
Before disappearing, the couple made a video stating they would commit suicide due to the pressure from their families, who were against their relationship. In the video, they blamed Srinivas and Anand for their decision to end their lives, saying “You won’t let us live, and we won’t be found even if we die”. The families had found them in Hyderabad and brought them back, separating them.
Two days ago, Srinivas took Ranjit to a secluded spot, beat him to death with an iron rod, and dumped his body in a car trunk. He then surrendered to the Bannerghatta police, claiming he had killed Ranjit for tarnishing his family’s reputation.
Srinivas had even made a video call to his wife and sister Komala, showing them Ranjit’s dead body, saying “Look, I’ve killed him”. The police are investigating the case, and Srinivas has been taken into custody. The incident has sent shockwaves in the community, highlighting concerns about the rising crime rate in the Anekal subdivision and the need for effective law enforcement.
