Man kills wife after relatives taunt her as thief

BENGALURU: A man brutally killed his wife by strangulating her after relatives and acquaintances mocked her as a thief. The incident took place in Whitefield in the city on Monday and the deceased has been identified as Sarita (35). The accused husband is Taranath.

The couple originally hails from Mangaluru, and there was an allegation of theft against Sarita earlier. Then they shifted to Whitefield in Bengaluru.

Even then, relatives and acquaintances taunted Sarita as a thief. Shamed by this, Taranath strangled Sarita to death. Later, he attempted suicide, but surrendered before the police. A case has been registered at the Whitefield police station.
