BENGALURU: A man was kidnapped, his hands and legs tied, and beaten up after his younger brother eloped with a girl at Byadarahalli in the city. The attackers also recorded a video of the victim in which he can be heard appealing to his younger brother to return with the girl.
A youth named Shivakumar had loved a girl, but there was opposition to their relationship at the girl’s home. So the girl and boy left home. Out of this grudge, the girl’s father Basavaraj and relatives kidnapped the youth’s elder brother Kotresh who is a priest at a temple in Byadarahalli.
The accused kidnapped him in a car saying, they were going to the station but took Kotresh to an unknown place and beat him. They tied Kotresh’s hands and legs and recorded a video. In the video, they forced Kotresh to say, “Shivu, wherever you are, bring the girl back and hand her over.” Kotresh pleaded and begged his younger brother in the video. The accused then sent the video to Kotresh’s relatives.
Later, Kotresh’s family filed a complaint with the police. Police then rescued Kotresh and took three accused into custody. For now, police have served notices and sent them away. Investigation by Byadarahalli police is ongoing.
