BENGALURU: The police are investigating the case of an individual who was caught on camera kicking and pulling the hair of neighbourhood children in Tyagarajanagar. The police are likely to file POCSO case against him after taking up a case based on CCTV footage.

A former fitness coach, Ranjan, has been summoned to the station for questioning in one case. The police are trying to locate the parents of the children and record their statements after the CCTV videos surfaced. The Banashankari police are prepared to take complaints from the parents and record their statements.

Ranjan had pulled a child’s hair while they were cycling and attempted to hit another child with his Bullet motorcycle. The police are gathering information from the parents about these incidents.

Several incidents have come to light on the same road, and the police suspect that Ranjan may have committed similar acts in neighbouring streets. They are checking CCTV footage from nearby roads also.

The police are likely to register a new case based on the available CCTV footage and the nature of Ranjan’s actions. Following senior officers’ instructions, the Banashankari police are preparing to register a POCSO case.

Ranjan, who had obtained station bail, has fled to Chennai. The police are searching for him and have contacted his family members. They have information that Ranjan is currently in Madurai, Tamil Nadu.

The Banashankari police have recorded statements of the parents of two children. The CCTV footage shows Ranjan emerging from his gate and suddenly kicking a boy from behind, causing him to fall face down on the road, police said.

The boy suffered abrasions on his face, legs and hands due to the fall. His mother Deepika Jain, who had come to her brother’s house with her son, complained to the Banashankari police station.

The police will record statements from the parents of the other two children today and decide on adding more sections to the case against Ranjan.
