KALABURAGI: A man was brutally murdered in front of a Canara bank ATM at Old Jewargi Road in Kalaburagi on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Zameer (23).
Zameer, a resident of Kalaburagi Nagar Housing Board Colony, was an autorickshaw driver. He picked up a passenger from Rama Mandir in Kalaburagi Nagar and was travelling towards SVP Circle when the miscreants followed his autorickshaw, waylaid and attacked him.
The killers had been tracking his movements for about 15 days, and then brutally murdered him. Zameer’s brother, who is also an autorickshaw driver, saw him in a pool of blood and immediately took him to a hospital, where he was declared dead. Family members have alleged that the Zameer’s friends might have killed him over financial issues or old feud.
A case has been registered at Station Bazaar police station. Police have taken some of the accused into custody and are investigating further.
