MANDYA: Sixteen months after his daughter was brutally murdered, a man brutally stabbed to death the father of the girl’s killer on May 6. The wedding of the victim’s daughter was to be held just four days later.
Last January, Deepika, a teacher working at Melukote and a resident of Manikyanahalli, was murdered by Nitish and her body was buried at the foot of the Melukote hills. Nitish was arrested and jailed, but is now out on bail.
Deepika’s father Venkatesh had waited for 16 months and, on May 6, when Nitish’s father Narasimha was having tea at a tea stall at Manikyanahalli Gate, he stabbed the latter repeatedly saying, “How can you be happy celebrating your daughter’s wedding after killing my daughter? I won’t leave you and I won’t spare your son too”.
Narasimha was alive for several minutes after Venkatesh left, but died later due to excessive bleeding. The entire scene was captured on CCTV camera and has jolted the villagers. Venkatesh and Narasimha are from the same village and the latter’s daughter was to get married just four days before the incident. The police have arrested Venkatesh and taken up further investigation.
