Deputy CM D K Shivakumar has alleged that a conspiracy is being hatched to destabilise the Congress government.

BENGALURU: Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Monday created a storm when he accused the Opposition of conspiring to destabilise the Congress government in the state. He also alleged that the conspiracy was being hatched in Singapore.

The Congress government has a clear majority with 135 MLAs. On Sunday, during the induction of new members into the partyfold, Shivakumar had said that attempts were afoot to destabilise the government.

When questioned about his remark today, the Deputy CM told mediapersons, “We have some information. If they conspire sitting in Bengaluru, everything will be known, so they have gone outside. It is their strategy, let’s see what happens”.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda said, “The BJP is known to bring down duly elected governments. We have to be on guard as they don’t hesitate to do anything, even if it is against the principles democracy. Perhaps, in this background, the Deputy CM may have said to and he may have some information himself”.

Further, he said, “A senior BJP leader himself said 15 days ago that they will do something after the Lok Sabha election. So they is all possibility they could be conspiring”.

Reacting to this, BJP MLC Ashwath Narayan Gowda said Shivakumar is only firing in the air. “He claimed that JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy was abroad conspiring to bring down the Congress government. Two days ago, Congress leader B K Hariprasad hadn’t gone to Singapore, Malaysia or anywhere else, and Shivakumar should understand what he had remarked”.

BJP MLC N Ravikumar said, “There is lot of talk that injustice has been done to B K Harisprasad. M B Patil had declared that he was a CM candidate, D K Shivakumar himself wanted to be CM first. Dr G Parameshwara never got the opportunity to become CM because of Siddaramaiah. There is a lot of talk about all this behind the scenes. Will Siddaramaiah give the Bhagya to anyone else to become CM or to Hariprasad to become minister? Won’t other get the Bhagya? Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah should answer all these questions”.
