HASSAN: A man attacked his wife with a machete and an iron rod over a property sale issue in Tirumalapur in Holenarasipur taluk of Hassan district.
The severely injured woman has been admitted to a private hospital in Hassan for treatment. The attack was captured on mobile phone by a citizen.
Srinivas and Savita, who were married 18 years ago, have been living separately in the same house for the last two years. Savita, who is fighting a legal battle for divorce from her husband, had also filed a case against him over division of property.
On Saturday evening, Srinivas had a fight with Savita regarding the sale of a site. At this time, he attacked his wife with a machete and an iron rod. Even though she ran to escape the attack, he chased and attacked her.
The accused also attacked his Savita’s sister Anita’s car and broke the window shield. A case has been registered at Holenarsipur Rural police station in connection with the attack.
The police have also a relative of Srinivas into custody for giving him a machete. Currently, Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar has formed two teams to nab the accused. Hariram Shankar visited the hospital and inquired about the health condition of the injured.
Later, speaking to media persons, the SP said the accused caused injuries to his wife on the hand and other parts. “The injured are now out of danger. We will arrest the accused soon. The brother of the accused, who gave the machete, has been arrested”, he said.
