CHAMARAJANAGAR: A man sustained injuries after he was attacked by a tiger during an operation to tranquilise it, at Holeyanapura in Gundlupet taluk on Saturday. He has since been admitted to the government hospital in Gundlupet for treatment.

Manu, a local, was attacked by the tiger.

A tiger, aged about two years, was spotted on a banana plantation in the village which is on the edge of the Bandipur tiger reserve. On Saturday morning, the Forest Department officials launched an operation to tranquilise the tiger and shift it back to the forest.

A large crowd had gathered near the banana plantation during the operation to catch the animal. In its attempt to escape, the tiger charged at the crowd and pounced on Manu, leaving him badly injured in the neck, left arm and back.
