MANDYA: A man abandoned his mentally ill mother by the roadside at Kirugavalu village in Malavalli taluk on Sunday. The woman seems to be about 70-80 years old and a video of her has gone viral on social media.
In the video, shot by a passerby who spotted the woman, she can be heard saying that her son would return and that she was waiting for her. She can also be heard saying she had come to her husband’s house and says she’s from Kayamballi.
The frail woman also makes some incoherent statements and says ‘number 25’ and ‘hospital’. On receiving information, the officials from the Women and Child Development Department rescued the woman and shifted her to the Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences where she is undergoing treatment.
