Over 1,000 people are undertaking the 115 km padayatra as a vow for finding brides for over 100 bachelors in the villages. The parents claim that they are not finding brides for their sons who are engaged in farming.

The padayatris are also taking vows to arrange a golden chariot, Hulivahana, to raise donations by seeking alms, doing annual padayatras for five years, among others.

Earlier, the villagers would take out a padayatra on the occasion of Shivaratri and Deepavali. Nowadays, with the changing trends, people are taking up padayatras on other days too seeking fulfillment of their wishes.
