YADGIR: A major fire broke out at a private pharma company in the Kadechur-Badiyal industrial area here on Tuesday. Firefighters had a tough time putting out the blaze and luckily, there was no loss of life.
The fire broke out at CIL Laboratories Pvt Ltd while unloading some powder in an area where methanol was stored. Thick black smoke engulfed the entire area till the fire was completely put out.
Quick action by the Fire and Emergency Services personnel resulted in the fire not spreading. If the fire had reached the area where the methanol was stored, at least 10 other industrial units in the vicinity would have suffered damage, officials said.
At least 10 reactors were damaged in the fire and the loss is estimated to be over Rs 5 crore. The incident occurred when some powder used for skin ailments was being unloaded, police said.
