BENGALURU: The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Jagadish alias Jagga, the prime accused in the history-sheeter Biklu Shiva murder case, from Delhi. Jagga was absconding after a lookout notice was issued against him. The CID officials are bringing him back to Bengaluru.
The police had been conducting a massive search operation in several states, including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, to apprehend Jagga. He was involved in various criminal cases and a history sheet had been opened against him at the Hennur police station.
Jagga is one of the 21 accused arrested in connection with the murder of Biklu Shiva, who was brutally hacked to death on July 15. The case had drawn attention due to allegations against BJP MLA Byrati Basavaraj, who was questioned by the police.
Based on the complaint filed by Shiva’s mother Vijayalakshmi, an FIR was registered against five people, including BJP MLA Byrati Basavaraj who represents KR Pura Assembly constituency, at the Bharathinagar police station. Byrati Basavaraj was questioned twice by the Bharathinagar police. After the initial 15 arrests, the government handed over the case to the CID for investigation.
