Maharashtra villagers get notice for raising pro-Karnataka slogans

A group of villagers in Akkalkot taluk have been issued notices by the police for holding Kannada flags and raising pro-Karnataka slogans.

VIJAYAPURA: The Maharashtra police have issued notices to 17 residents of Udugi village in Akkalkot taluk for raising pro-Karnataka slogans and holding Kannada flags.

The notice, issued by the Akkalkot South police, warns the residents inform the police about any sort of protest beforehand and in case of any problems, to bring it to the notice of the district administration.

The villagers had said they want to merge with Karnataka.

Recently, a group of villagers, with Kannada flags and banner, had protested in the village against the lack of drinking water and irrigation facilities, lack of subsidies, etc., and raised slogans in favour of the Karnataka government. They also said that the village is ready to merge with Karnataka.
