BENGALURU: Power lines are hanging very low on the main road in Ganigarahalli under Dasarahalli Assembly Constituency, posing a danger to public. Despite multiple short circuits, the authorities haven’t addressed the issue. Public TV hence, exposed the negligence of Bescom officials.
This hazardous situation has already claimed a life in Tavarekere, Ramnagara, where a woman was electrocuted after a live wire fell on her. Bescom continues to display negligence towards public safety in the city.
Locals have complained multiple times, but Bescom officials remain unresponsive. The 220-volt line, managed by Soladevanahalli Bescom Sub-Division officials, has sparked fires due to short circuits. Temporary repairs have been carried out, but a permanent solution is needed, locals say.
Some Bescom staff made some temporary repairs and switched off the power line as Public TV visited the place. The wire’s proximity to the BMTC bus stand and its potential to electrify the entire road pose significant risks.
This line runs up to 2 km and if an electricity pole falls to the ground, it can be a huge disaster along the road. The electricity pole and exposed wire demand immediate attention from authorities to prevent further accidents.
A blacksmith, Amaresh, said, “I was fed up with complaining with the Bescom, as I did not get a proper response. The power line has been hanging for two-and-half months. The officials concerned are ignoring the problem. When I touch even the doors, I sustained shocked, so I just stopped opening shop as I was scared of short circuit. We are daily bread earners. We cannot keep close shops every day. After quarrel with Bescom, they came and were doing repair work”.
