Lokayukta police nab food inspector after 15 km chase in bribery case, book him for attempt to murder too

BENGALURU: The Lokayukta police chased a food inspector for 15 km and nabbed him in a bribery case on Friday night. The official was also booked for attempt to murder after he tried to run over the Lokayukta team with his car.

Mahante Gowda, the food inspector, is posted at the tahsildar office on KG Road. He had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from one Rangadamaiah for issuing a trade licence. The Lokayukta police had laid a trap for Mahante Gowda when he was to receive the first instalment of Rs 43,000.

The food inspector was also booked for attempt to murder.

Sensing a trap while receiving the money, Mahante Gowda fled with the Lokayukta police giving him a hot chase. He was finally caught near Sondekoppa in Nelamangala taluk.

However, Mahante Gowda tried to run over the Lokayukta police team with him car following which a case of attempt to murder was registered against him at the Nelamangala Town police station.
