CHAMARAJANAGAR: A leopard which had preyed on several sheep and goats was finally trapped at Martalli in Hanur taluk. The presence of the leopard had created anxiety among the villagers over the last three months.

The leopard would strike every now and then and attack sheep and goats. Due to this, villagers would dread to step out after dusk and had appealed to the Forest Department to capture the animal.

Accordingly, a cage was set up on the outskirts of the village and the leopard was trapped on Friday night. A goat had been placed in the cage as bait. With the big cat having been finally captured, the villagers have heaved a sigh of relief.
