Bangalore University curbs movement after leopard sighted on campus

BENGALURU: The Bangalore University on Thursday issued a circular warning its staff and students living on the campus to restrict their movement at night in the aftermath of the sighting of a leopard in the campus. Videos of the leopard were being circulated on social media.

The circular read, “In view of reports appearing in the media and social media platforms about the leopard sighting on the campus, all students of the university, especially those staying in the university hostels, teaching faculties and other staff are hereby directed that they should be cautious and avoid moving around at night”.

Bangalore University issued a circular warning its staff and students living on the campus to restrict their movement at night.

The notification also directed all the students and staff of the university to inform their superiors if they notice the leopard roaming on the campus anywhere. The Forest Department has been informed regarding the sighting of the wild animal and has been asked to take appropriate action to capture the leopard, said the circular.

Preethi, a university student, said they have been advised to move around in groups.

“We have received instructions saying that we should go around in groups. The administration has issued a notice to all the hostels. We are scared and we want this issue to be solved immediately”, said Preethi, a university student. (With Agency inputs)
