BENGALURU: Even after the deaths of a mother and child due to electrocution in Kadugodi recently, Bescom officials do not seem to be bothered about public safety.

An old leaning transformer pole on Hanumanthappa Road, Ward No. 186, 6th stage in JP Nagar, is posing a risk to pedestrians. Locals fear that the transformer may collapse some day, leading to a major disaster. Along with the transformer pole, the top part of the transformer is also leaning. Some workmen who noticed this earlier installed an iron rod near the transformer pole for support, but due to its weight, it continues to lean. The pole is standing only on the support of other wires and there is a possibility of it collapsing any time.

There are thousands of people using the road every day and the Kanakapura Main Road is also nearby. Also, many vehicles, fastfood sellers and vegetable vendors use the place for business. In the event something untoward happens to them, who will be responsible, question locals. Citizens are demanding that Bescom officials fix the problem immediately and prevent any untoward incident.
