K’taka generates highest number of e-challans for traffic violations between August 1 and 9

BENGALURU: In just nine days since the beginning of August, a staggering 24,583 electronic challans have been issued in the state for various traffic violations. The fines for these e-challans total Rs 1,22,92,500, as per official data.

In a tweet, sharing details of e-challans issued across the country between August 1 and 9, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar said, “Traffic Violation related fine collection using E-Challan , Karnataka is far far ahead in the whole country More than 50% E-Challan generation from Karnataka itself Very soon whole state is going to be covered by E-Challan , discarding the manual receipt system”.

As per the data, the next highest number of e-challans issued during the period was in Tamil Nadu at 7,101 followed by Maharashtra at 4,360. While no e-challans were generated in Mizoram, Sikkim and Other Territory, the number ranged between two and seven in Assam, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Lakshadweep, Odisha and Chandigarh.

Among the states and Union Territories, Andhra Pradesh generated 289 e-challans in the same period, Arunachal Pradesh 47, Assam 7, Bihar 16, Chhattisgarh 36, Delhi 447, Goa 84, Gujarat 510, Haryana 1,073, Himachar Pradesh 57, Jammu and Kashmir 4, Jharkhand 6, Kerala 162, Lakshadweep Islands 2, Madhya Pradesh 66, Manipur 150, Meghalaya 158, Nagaland 976, Odisha 2, Pondicherry 34, Punjab 93, Rajasthan 801, Telangana 157, Tripura 82, Uttar Pradesh 291, Uttarakhand 65, West Bengalu 136, Andaman and Nicobar Islands 19, Chandigarh 6, Dadra and Nagar Haveli 54, Daman and Diu 177 and Ladakh 20.
