BENGALURU: The Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) on Monday launched a campaign to visit IT companies and firms to collect information on Kannadigas working there. This comes on the back of claims that Kannadigas are being neglected in several companies.

Last week, a young woman posted a video about IT companies not giving jobs to Kannadigas, which created a big sensation across the state. Following this, Chief Minister D K Shivakumar also expressed opposition about the stand of IT companies.

From Monday, Narayana Gowda’s faction of KRV is going ahead with a campaign against companies which neglect Kannadigas. Already, KRV has formed ten teams which will go to every IT company in the city and collect information about of Kannadiga employees. Through this campaign, they will collect about how many Kannadiga employees are in each company, how many out-of-state employees are there, and later submit a report to government.

Based on the outcome of the campaing, which will go on for one month, KRV has planned to take up a fight for reservation of jobs for Kannadigas. The CM has requested KRV not to carry out the campaign, but the Vedike has reject it and said that even if they are jailed, they will go ahead with the campaign.

As part of ‘Agraha Abhiyan’ called by KRV state president T A Narayana Gowda, a delegation led by state convener Mohan Gowda visited Bagmane Tech Park in C V Raman Nagar on Monday and submitted agraha letter. Bagmane Tech Park representative received the memorandum on behalf of the organizations there, and responded positively.

The KRV memorandum insists that priority should be given to Kannadigas in jobs. “We are giving our memorandum respectfully, we have not done riot”, Narayana Gowda said.
