BALLARI: After cheating case involving Chaitra, who cheated a businessmen of Rs 5 crore by promising him a BJP ticket from Byndoor constituency, another similar fraud case has come to light in Ballari. A former BJP leader and current KRPP party leader, Revanasiddappa, has been arrested by Kottur police on the charge of defrauding a retired engineer of crores of rupees.
Revanasiddappa, along with Puttur-based Shekhar, had promised retired engineer Shivamurthy of Kottur of getting him a BJP ticket from Hagaribommanahalli constituency and allegedly cheated him of Rs 1.95 crore. Shivamurthy came to know he had been cheated after the ticket was announced to someone else.
However, Revanasiddappa allegedly threatened Shivamurthy when questioned about cheating. After this, the leaders of the village got the two to strike a compromise and Revanasiddappa had given two cheques with the assurance of returning the money, but they had bounced. Later, Shivamurthy filed a complaint at the Kottur police station.
Revanasiddappa, the main accused in the case, was absconding from the day the case was registered. However, the police managed to track him down and arrested him. Vijayanagar Superintendent of Police Sriharibabu confirmed the arrest of the accused.
