More than 20 cows were being transported in the truck.

RAMANAGARA: More than 20 heads of a native breed of cows, which were being transported to a slaughter house, were rescued by the police at the election checkpost near Nidaghatta in Channapatna taluk on Monday night.

On seeing the police, two men who were in the truck abandoned the vehicle and fled. The Channapatna Rural police have registered a case and taken up further investigation. The police later shifted the cows to a goshala.
