BENGALURU: In a curious twist to the kidnap case of a man from Bandepalya a few days ago, it has now come to light that the abductors not only demanded money, but also kept him hostage to demand sexual favours. The kidnapped man was recently rescued by the Adugodi police who were checking vehicles at night near Koramangala after a chase.
Tauseeb was kidnapped by some people known to him and was kept in a secret location as he had not paid up Rs 40,000 towards a bike he had purchased. The kidnappers forced him to call his family members and arrange the money and hand it to them at a designated place. A woman had gone along with Tauseed’s family and handed the money to the kidnappers. At that time, the accused had snatched her mobile phone too.
The kidnappers later saw several nude videos and photos of the woman on her mobile and started demanding Tauseeb to call that woman to their location and threatened him that they would not let him go to until she came.
The kidnappers kept roaming around the city in a car along with the victim at night. When they came across the police checkpost near Koramangala, they drove ahead without stopping, but the victim screamed for help. The police personnel, who heard the shout, chased the car for some distance and managed to rescue Tauseeb and arrested two of the kidnappers while two others fled.
Deputy Commissioner of Police C K Baba said, “When the Adugodi night beat police were checking vehicles some time between 11.40 pm and 12 am, a speeding Honda City car passed by without stopping. There were five people in the car, including the driver. Police chased the suspected the car for more than half a kilometre and apprehended the kidnappers near the Koramangala water tank junction. Two were caught by the police and others two escaped”.
“Tauseeb had purchased a bike from them and made an initial payment of Rs 5,000. They had kidnapped him for not paying up the remainder of Rs 40,000. They roamed around in the car and stayed in lodges. One of the relatives of Tauseeb finally paid Rs 35,000 to the kidnappers. We will arrest the other accused too and take further action as per law”, the officer added.
