KCET to be held on Saturday, Sunday

BENGALURU: The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) for admission to professional courses will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

The Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) has made all preparations and the test will be conducted at 592 centres across the state. Of these, 121 centres will be in Bengaluru while 471 centres will be in other parts of the state.

While 2,61,610 students have registered for the KCET, there will be 592 observers, and 1,184 members of the special squads, 592 custodians and 10,900 invigilators. In all, 23,050 officials will be involved in the conduct of the KCET and each centre will be monitored by video.

On May 22, the Kannada test will be held for Horanadu-Gadinadu candidates for which 2,084 students have registered. The Kannada test will be held in Bidar, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Ballari, Mangaluru and Bengaluru only.

Meanwhile, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled on the day the KCET starts, there is apprehension among candidates about traffic jams in Bengaluru. Thousands of supporters and party workers are expected to arrive in Bengaluru from different parts of the state.

The KCET is conducted for admission to full-time professional courses for the government share of seats in Medical, Dental, Indian systems of medicine and Homeopathy, Engineering/ Architecture courses, Farm Science i.e, BSc (Agriculture), BSc (Sericulture), BSc (Horticultue), BSc (Forestry), BSc Agri Bio Tech, BHSc.(Home Science), BTech (Agri.Engg), BTech (Food Technology), BTech (Dairy Tech), BFSc (Fisheries), BTech (Food Science & Tech), BSc. (Agri.Marketing & Co-Op), B-Pharma, Pharma-D courses.
