Karnataka Ratna award to be given to Puneeth Rajkumar posthumously

The Lalbagh flower show, with life-size installations of Puneet and Dr Rajkumar, was inaugurated by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai.

BENGALURU: The famed Lalbagh flower show this year will feature installations of late actor Puneeth Rajkumar and his father, thespian Dr Rajkumar. The flow show, which was inaugurated on Friday, will be on for 11 days till Independence Day.

The display also features the ancestral house of the Dr Rajkumar family at Gajanur in Chamarajanagar district and the Shakti Dham for ophan kids.

Puneeth’s elder brother Shivarajkumar and Minister Muniratna brought a torch from Puneeth final resting place to Lalbagh while Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the show. Ashwini Puneeth Rajkumar and Raghavendra Rajkumar were also present.

The CM, who spoke after inaugurating the show, also announced that the Karnataka Ratna award will be given to Puneeth Rajkumar posthumously.

This time, more than 12 lakh flowers from Udhagamangalam and even abroad have been used for the flower show display, put up at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. The annual flower show is expected to draw 15 lakh visitors this year.
