BENGALURU: The 68th Kannada Rajyotsava was celebrated with much fanfare across the state on Wednesday. While ministers and deputy commissioners led the celebrations, cultural performances also marked the occasion.

In Mudhol, the main streets adorned the Kannada flag colours for kilometres while important landmarks were also draped in red and yellow colours.

In Belagavi, citizens rung in the Rajyotsava celebrations at midnight itself. The Chennamma Circle was brightly illuminated and youths waved huge Kannada flags and danced. The midnight celebration was organised by some pro-Kannada organisations.

Residents of Ballari celebrated Rajyotsava by unfurling the Kannada flag atop Asia’s second largest monolithic hill. The flag measured 68 feet long to mark the 68th year of the formation of the state. The even was organised by Ballari city MLA Nara Bharat Reddy and hundreds of supporters and Karnataka Rakshana Vedike activists took part.

At Murudeshwar in Karwar district, lifguards set out into the Arabian Sea on a boat painted in Kannada colours and carrying a Kannada flag.
