K L Rahul praises Suryakumar in Tulu post T20 match, latter’s wife responds

BENGALURU: One of India’s top-rated opening batsmen, K L Rahul, praised Indian sensation Suryakumar Yadav and posted a story on Instagram in Tulu saying ‘Baari Yedde Gobbiya’ (‘You played really well) after his blistering knock in the match against Sri Lanka on Saturday in which he scored quickfire ton.

Replying to Rahul’s comment, Suryakumar’s wife Devisha Shetty, who hails from the coastal region, reverted in Tulu saying ‘Choor tulu kalpaavod aareg nana’, (He should be taught some Tulu).

The exchange between the two has garnered a lot of attention among social media users.

Suryakumar scored 112* out off 51 balls against Sri Lanka in T20 series in Rajkot on Saturday. India bagged the series 2-1.

Suryakumar Yadav walked in to bat with Gill and the two kept the scoreboard moving with lusty blows. He kept on hitting his trademark attacking shots towards the fine leg region as he reached his half-century in just 26 balls with four boundaries and three sixes. The Yadav-Gill duo notched up a 100-run partnership in just 49 balls.

Axar Patel then walked in to bat and the southpaw continued to lead from where he had left in the previous match, scoring an unbeaten 21 of 9 balls while Surya remained unbeaten on 112 of 51 balls.

Suryakumar Yadav hails from Mumbai while his wife Devisha Shetty, who belongs to a South Indian family, is a popular dancer. Earlier, a video of Suryakumar Yadav’s daughter speaking in Tulu had gone viral.

Meanwhile, after three years dating, Mangalurean K L Rahul and Athiya Shetty, daughter of actor Sunil Shetty, are all set to tie the knot in January.
