BENGALURU: The Justice PN Desai Commission, a one-member committee formed to investigate alleged irregularities in the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), has submitted its report to the government. The report, comprising six volumes, was received by Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh on behalf of the government.
The commission’s investigation focused on allegations of land acquisition, allotment of sites, compensation distribution and other issues related to MUDA during the tenure of various chief ministers, including H D Kumaraswamy, B S Yediyurappa, D V Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar, Siddaramaiah and Basavaraj Bommai.
The report’s findings and recommendations are expected to be tabled in the upcoming cabinet meeting, and the government is likely to take action based on its recommendations. The investigation was triggered by allegations of irregularities in the allotment of sites to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi B M.
The commission’s report was eagerly awaited, with many speculating about its potential implications for politicians, officials and builders involved in the alleged irregularities. The inquiry commission was formed after Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi was accused of irregularities in the allocation of alternative sites by the MUDA.
The government, which had constituted a single-member commission headed by Justice P N Desai in July 2024, had ordered an inquiry into the allegations of land acquisition, construction of settlements, site allocation, distribution of compensation, and allocation of alternative sites from 2006 to July 15, 2024.
The order mentioned that an inquiry should be conducted into the alleged irregularities in the authority during the tenures of H D Kumaraswamy, B S Yediyurappa (two terms), D V Sadananda Gowda, Jagadish Shettar, Siddaramaiah (two terms) and Basavaraj Bommai.
The commission, headed by Justice Desai, which submitted its report to the government after a year, is said to have made several recommendations.
