MANDYA: A herd of five elephants entered the premises of the Forest Department office at Gundapura Gate in Malavalli taluk early on Tuesday, causing panic among locals.
Forest Department staff, who arrived at the spot along with the police, burst firecrackers and sounded the sirens from police vehicles to drive away the elephant herd.
After much effort, the elephants were finally driven towrds to Basavana Betta forest area. A huge crowd had gathered to watch the elephants being driven away into the forest.
