BENGALURU: City Police Commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh has ordered the suspension of Jnanabharati Police Inspector Ravi for dereliction of duty in a murder case investigation. However, sources suggest that the suspension may be linked to a separate incident involving the seizure of Rs 1.05 crore in hawala money.

On January 15, Inspector Ravi and his team seized the money from a Hyundai i10 car near the NICE Road toll gate, allegedly carrying hawala funds from Nagarbhavi to Tamil Nadu. The accused, Siddarth, Sambashiv and Dinesh, were arrested, and the money was seized.

The police claim that the accused were transporting the money in the car, and Inspector Ravi’s team intercepted them. However, questions have been raised about why Inspector Ravi ventured beyond his jurisdiction to seize the money.

The police commissioner has ordered a probe into the incident and directed the DCP of Electronics City to investigate. The police are trying to determine the origin of the seized money and the involvement of the accused.
