BENGALURU: After the footpath eviction and abandoned vehicles removal drives, the ‘Just Clean Bengaluru’ campaign will starts from August 1 in the jurisdiction of the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA). Chief Minister D K Shivakumar is expected to launch the ‘Just Clean Bengaluru’ campaign on August 1.

Under the ‘Freedom from Waste’ campaign, legacy waste accumulated in public places will be cleared. Legacy waste has accumulated not only on roadsides, footpaths, public places, and vacant sites, but also on vacant lands belonging to various departments. It is even causing obstruction to traffic.

Around 22,000 tonnes of legacy waste has been identified at 1,616 locations. It is estimated that more than 1 lakh tonnes of waste is dumped across the city The legacy waste clearance drive will be carried out in coordination with
five City Corporations, Railways, BDA, BWSSB, BESCOM, K-RIDE, National Highways Authority, of India and other departments.
