UDUPI: The investigating officer in the case where three students were allegedly filming in the washroom at a women’s paramedical college here, has been changed suddenly. Kundapur Deputy SP Belliappa will be the new investigation officer.

Earlier, Malpe Circle Inspector Manjunath Gowda was the investigating officer and there was pressure from the ABVP to replace the investigating officer (IO). There was also a lot of outrage on social media that the police delayed registering the FIR.

Kundapur Deputy SP Belliappa is the new investigating officer.

Kundapur Deputy SP Belliappa has now been given the responsibility of the investigation. Since it is a women-related case, Udupi SP Hakay Akshay Macchindra has decided to appoint additional women police personnel in the investigation team to make it easier for students and college staff to file statements.

The BJP has beenprotesting against the video filming incident and has demanded that the case be handed over to a central agency.
