Income Tax officials raid branded jewellery store in parts of state

BENGALURU: Income Tax officials raided several jewellers, including showrooms of a popular brand in different parts of the state, and businessmen, on Tuesday. This is the fourth such raid in the month of October itself.

The stores in Kumta and Mangaluru.

In the first raid, the officials had seized Rs 20 crore in cash following with Rs 102 crore was found during a subsequent search. On Tuesday, I-T officials searched Abharan Jewellers on MG Road, in Girinagar, Mahalakshmi Layout and Banashankari.

In Mangaluru, the I-T officials searched Abharan jewellery outlets in Kadri and Shivabagh, owned by Subash Kamat and Mahesh Kamat. They also have stores in Belthangady and Kottara.

The officials also searched the showroom on JPN Road in Shivamogga. Raids were also conducted on showrooms in Udupi, Kundapur, Byndoor, Hebri, Puttur, Padubidri, Brahmavara, and Karkala and collected documents. The Abharan showroom at the new bus stand in Kumta of Karwar district was also searched.
